ANEW hotel’s first Western Cape property stands out as an inclusive space for the local community
ANEW Hotels & Resorts have expanded its property portfolio once again. What was once the Vib Best Western Hotel in Green Point, has been rebranded as the ANEW Hotel Green Point. A significant moment for the growing hotel group, this opening marks its first foray into the Western Cape hospitality market with a flagship hotel in Cape Town.
As a modern property with a strong focus on inclusivity, the team at ANEW firmly believes in the support of its local community. “We invite people from all walks of life to come and experience our first hotel in the Western Cape,” adds Sales & Marketing Director Alan Campbell. “With the holiday season upon us, we look forward to welcoming local and international guests through our doors.”
He continues, “Despite the tourism sector still being on shaky ground, we’ve happily seen an increase in the leisure market, which we’re keen to tap into to bolster our appeal to local and international visitors. With our first Cape Town property, we’re positive that when the international market comes back, we’ll be perfectly positioned to not only welcome them but provide the experience travellers expect from the Mother City.”
Leaders in acquisition
ANEW Hotels & Resorts have continued to grow their portfolio over recent months, despite the unprecedented standstill of the hospitality and tourism industries in the country. “Our industry has been among the hardest hit, with the volume of tourists decreasing by more than 72% from 2019 to 2020. However, thanks to ANEW’s dedicated leadership team, we found the resources and encouragement needed to continue with our long-term vision for the brand in the face of these challenges,” adds Campbell.
ANEW Hotels & Resorts owns and manages its properties and looks for the right partners with strategic properties where there will be long-term, sustainable, and mutually beneficial relationships. Campbell adds, “We seek to develop a fresh take on old-fashioned values. As such, opening a new property requires creative and dynamic minds, which we feel our team encompasses.”
“There’s no doubt about Cape Town’s appeal. The city is simply built for tourists, and we needed to really stand out among competitors. We decided to focus on a new, more vibrant community of leisure and mobile travelers looking for style and convenience in the heart of the city. The location makes it the perfect base from which to explore the city, while the in-room and hotel services mean guests don’t have to look far for relaxation or entertainment. Our rooms are kitted out with Wifi and chic decor, while our rooftop pool deck is the perfect place to socialize, take in the breathtaking views and capture that all-important Instagram shot.”
The Premier of the Western Cape, Alan Winde said the following of the latest addition to the ANEW Hotels & Resorts portfolio: “It is really encouraging to see the growth of our hospitality industry, following the toll that the pandemic took on our local economy. In particular, I am really glad to see that ANEW will join the ranks of our hotels and resorts, bringing with them their unique brand of togetherness or ubuntu, showcasing our South African culture. I hope to see many more developments like this across our province, creating more jobs and ensuring a successful recovery in the Western Cape.”
Creating a safe, inclusive space
The hospitality sector is not the only industry affected by the pandemic. The entertainment industry has suffered various blows due to lockdown restrictions, curfews, and more. “What we loved about this hotel was its reputation for being a safe and inclusive space. During the lockdown, entertainers struggled to make ends meet. The hotel presented them with a platform when other establishments were closed down, helping various entertainers weather the storm during one of the toughest times.”
He continues, “The hotel has also collaborated with many well-known local musicians, dancers, artists, and comedians, so we’re excited to host various live events for guests and visitors to enjoy.”
“Our mission is to provide hotel guests with the ultimate hospitality experience – the right blend of service, luxury, and efficiency. Our family culture is firmly grounded in our people, who pride themselves on their ability to provide a truly personal touch to every guest. We’re incredibly excited and proud to be affiliated with a hotel that has made its mark in the community and hope to continue this tradition of inclusivity, excellent service and comfort,” Campbell concludes.
