
Dry Season – May to September – Winter
There is very little rainfall in the winter months, but there may be an occasional shower from time to time. Temperatures are usually mild and skies clear.
May – When summer ends, the rain lessens and humidity drops. Average temperatures are between 13°C/55°F in the morning and 24°C/75°F in the afternoon.
June, July & August – Afternoons are mild with temperatures usually at around 22°C/72°F, but evenings do get very chilly with lows of 11°C/52°F. Ensure that you pack a warm jacket for early mornings and evenings.
September – Spring has sprung and temperatures rise to around 24°C/75°F. Morning are prone to be less cold and you can expect a few thundershowers.
Wet Season – October to April – Summer
October & November – Afternoon showers are quite common this time of year. Temperatures in the morning start at 15°C/59°F in the morning and 26°C/79°F in the afternoon.
December, January & February – Hot and humid with afternoon showers. Temperatures usually average about 28°C/82°F in the afternoon.
March & April – This is the turning point in the wet season where temperatures begin cooling down to around 26°C/79°F in the afternoon. This is a great time to visit the park, because there is less rain and crowds.
Anyone travelling to Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve on a budget, should consider the off peak, yet pleasant months of March and April.
